Sometimes time is short, and getting that program ready in time might be a challenge. So you don't have to start from scratch, we have created a program template that you can use as a framework when building a new program. Copy this template and get the program structure and some assignments to start off with when you build your own program. (If you don't have the template on your site, please contact us and we'll set it up for you).
Please note! This is a template with the basic structure of a program, and you'll need to make adjustments and additions to get a complete program. We have tips on what to add in the instructions below, and where you need to fill in information the activity is marked with * in the title.
Contents & Program Overview
The program template got a blended approach. To ensure effective training the learning journey includes these key aspects:
- The journey begins with a ‘Kick-off’ webinar to get people onboard and committed
- Self-paced, preparatory assignments to build a solid knowledge foundation
- A Face2Face, facilitator-led, classroom experience to practice skills in a safe environment
- Put it into practice through a series of guided application assignments
In this program overview, each part is linked to a description of the content and what additions you need to make.
Instructions
Before you start adjusting the content, make a copy of the program, in this way you can use the template more than once. How to make a copy of a program ->
In the instructions below you'll find recommendations, tips and purpose of each activity. Follow these instructions when you create your own program based on the template. Where you need to fill in information, the activity is marked with * in the title.
Getting Started
In this Block we help the learners and coaches get set up.
Introduction to Promote
We have set up the Introduction as a “information only page” , which means the learners don't have to complete any tasks related to the information. The learners get a video introduction to Promote and the coaches get both a video and some tips on how to be a great coach.
Recommended additions:
Write a short introduction about the program, for example:
- Learning goals
- Program structure (for example: how many sessions, are there assignments before and after these, what people are involved - managers, facilitators, learning peers - etc)
Perform a technical check
If you have a virtual session, like a kick-off webinar or if you run virtual training sessions all together - it's a good idea to have this kind of assignment where the learners will take a few simple steps to optimize the learning experience and get the most out of the virtual meetings.
Recommended additions:
Inform the learners which virtual classroom tool you will be using in your meeting. Are there any specific requirements for this tool, for example a software to download? Make sure this information is clear in the instructions with links provided.
Kick-off webinar
* Webinar information
A ‘Kick-off’ webinar is a great way to get people onboard and committed. If you have webinars, but not specifically a kick-off you can still re-use the structure of this event for your virtual meetings - just adjust the text to suite your setup. Learn more about virtual sessions in Promote >
Recommended additions:
- Add a link to your meeting room
- Add information about time
Your first assignments
In this block the learners get self-paced, preparatory assignments to build a solid knowledge foundation.
Get to know your peers
An assignment where the learners introduce themselves is a good way to get the learners started in Promote. In this assignment we have also added a peer review task to get the interaction between the learners started right away.
Recommended additions:
You can add more specific details what the learners should share in their presentation, for example something about their experience connected to the learning in your program.
* Plan your success
Here we get the coaches/managers involved.
Recommended additions:
- Add Program Goals
- Add anything related to the program that you think would be valuable for the learners to discuss with their coach/managers.
* Learn about "subject"
Here the learners prepare for the training session by building a knowledge foundation about the theory, which allows you to focus on practice when you meet during the session. If you have more than one subject that you want the learners to learn about before the session, add more assignments, see how here ->
Recommended additions:
- Change title to fit your subject
- Add description that let the learners understand the purpose of the assignment
- Give the learners something to read, something to listen to or something to watch on the subject to make the knowledge building interesting
- Give the task title some extra thought, what should the learner do, share, report? Be specific in the task title with a question or a call to action.
Classroom workshop 1
* Session information
This is the first Face2Face, facilitator-led, classroom experience where the learners will practice skills in a safe environment.
Recommended additions:
- Introduction that describe the content, purpose of session and what you want accomplish with the training
- Schedule details
- Address
- Time
Here you can read more about what information you can add in a session ->
Put it into practice
In this block we got assignments where the learners take the learnings from the training session and put it into practice through a series of guided application assignments.
On the job
In this assignment, we once again encourage interaction. The learners have learned a model in the workshop. They now need to apply that model in a workplace situation. Once the learner has applied the model, they must come back onto the platform, and complete two tasks:
- The first, is simply to report how they got on.
- The second, requires them to comment on a fellow learner’s report, who has also just completed the very same task. This is a peer review assignment, and it's used to encourage targeted, guided social learning.
If you have more than one subject that you want the learners to apply after the session, add more assignments, see how here ->
Recommended additions:
- Change title to fit your subject
- Change *Subject* in description, instructions and the task title
Get ready for workshop 2
In this block the learners get self-paced, preparatory assignments to build a solid knowledge foundation.
* Learn about "subject"

- Give the task title some extra thought, what should the learner do, share, report? Be specific in the task title with a question or a call to action.
Classroom Workshop 2
* Session information
This is the second Face2Face, facilitator-led, classroom experience where the learners will practice skills in a safe environment.
Recommended additions:
- Introduction that describe the content, purpose of session and what you want accomplish with the training
- Schedule details
- Address
- Time
Here you can read more about what information you can add in a session ->
* We would like your feedback
Following the last session, we have made place for a survey. Connect your own Fetch questionnaire to the task, read how to here ->
Set yourself up for success
To stretch the learning journey the learners will, in the following weeks after the last session, execute on their own commitments, at the end of this period they will share their stories. In this block they will start to plan their commitments for the following weeks..
Share your commitments
In this assignment the learners will share their plans and ambitions with their most important stakeholders so that they can support and help them.
Make it happen
In this block the learners start conducting their commitments on the job through a series of guided application assignments.
Check-in week 1
In this assignment, we once again encourage interaction. The learners are conducting their commitment on the job. Afterwards they come back onto the platform, and complete two tasks:
- The first, is simply to report how they got on.
- The second, requires them to comment on a fellow learner’s report, who has also just completed the very same task. This is a peer review assignment, and it's used to encourage targeted, guided social learning.
Check-in week 2
This assignment includes a team task. Learners are divided into smaller teams, and then given a private forum in which to conduct peer coaching. Once everyone has been coaching one another in the team discussion, someone in the team will then be designated to share the team’s conclusion with the rest of the program.
Check-in week 3
In this assignment the learners will complete a commitment with the support of their coach.
Recommended additions
- Stretch the learning journey even further by adding more check-in assignments
Wrapping up and looking ahead
In this block the learners take stock of their accomplishments so far and start to plan ahead.
Wrapping up
The learners share their story, the purpose of the assignment is to create learning transfer between the learners.
Looking ahead
In this assignment the learners are asked to make a plan going forwards to set them up for continued success.
Milestone
A milestone to indicate that the learners have reached the end of their learning journey.
Set dates, add program members and now you're ready to go live and invite people to the program - and don't forget that if you have facilitators that are new to the Promote environment, they are welcome to join the self-paced online training program Onboarding facilitators.
