This article explains what it means to copy a program in Promote and what is included (or excluded) when creating a copy.
What’s in this article
Introduction to program copying
When you copy a program, Promote creates a new program based on the structure and content of the original. This allows you to run multiple cohorts of the same design without rebuilding tasks, dates, or resources.
Copying is a useful way to reuse program structures - for example, when starting a new cohort with new learners. Instead of rebuilding from scratch, you can duplicate an existing program and adjust only what’s needed.
What gets copied
The following items are included in a program copy:
- Program structure (modules, blocks, sessions, events)
- Tasks and assignments
- Resources
- Goals
- Dates and scheduling
- Additional reminder settings
What does not get copied
Some program elements are not included in a copy, to avoid carrying over data from previous cohorts:
- Members
- User data (e.g., comments, progress, submissions)
- Groups
- Program support information
If the original program has assigned Program Admins or Announcements, you will have the option to include them in the copy.
How to copy a program
Program copies are created directly from the program list view.
