Overview
When you create a translated copy of a program, Promote uses DeepL to automatically translate the program content into the language of your choice. The result is a new, independent program in the target language that you can review, edit, and deliver separately from the original.
This approach works best for cohort programs, where a facilitator runs the same program for different groups of learners in different languages.
Access permissions
Translation must be enabled for your site before it can be used. Contact your Promote admin or support@promoteint.com to have this enabled.
Once enabled, the feature is available to admins with permission to copy programs. Read more about admin permissions here >
How to create a translated copy
- Go to Programs and click Copy program
- Fill in the program details:
- Name - the name for the new translated program
- New internal name - the internal name used by admins
- Program category - select the appropriate category for the new program
- Fill in the translation details:
- Translate content to - select the target language from the languages available on your site
- Translation context - optionally provide context to help DeepL produce a more accurate translation. This can include anything relevant, such as industry terms, the target audience, preferred tone, or role names that should remain untranslated
- Under Additional settings, choose whether to include announcements (these will also be translated and set as drafts)
- Click Copy program to start the translation
Promote will create a new copy of the program with the content translated into the selected language. Depending on the size of the program, this may take a moment.
💡 Note! The available languages depend on which languages are enabled for your site. Additional languages are available as an add-on. Learn more here >
What gets translated
The following content is translated automatically:
- Program content - modules, content pages, and tasks
- Announcement drafts
- Goals
- Surveys and quizzes
The following content is not translated and will remain in the original language:
- Resources
- E-learnings
- Embedded content
Reviewing the translation
After the copy is created, Promote will prompt you to review the translated content. A Review translation notice will appear in the program builder as a reminder to check that the translation is accurate before the program goes live.
It is recommended to review all content in the program builder before making the program available to learners, as automatic translations may occasionally require corrections.
