Introduction to program categories
When creating a new program, you must assign it to a program category. Categories are mandatory and affect how the program is handled in Promote, including billing.
If needed, you can change the category of an existing program in the program’s settings.
Program category types
There are three fixed categories in Promote:
- Live – Used for active programs with enrolled learners. Learners in Live programs are included in billing.
- Template – Used to create program templates that can later be copied into new Live programs.
- Demo – Used for programs created for demonstration purposes.
ℹ️ Programs categorized as Demo or Template will display an informational banner to clarify their purpose.

- Go to Admin.
- Search for the program in the Programs tab.
- Open the program’s Settings.
- Under General information, select the correct Program category.
- Click Save changes.
