As an admin, you can decide how learners interact in a program by choosing between Cohort programs and Individual programs. This setting controls visibility, collaboration, and communication features.

Cohort Programs
A cohort program is the standard choice for group-based training where learners progress together and interact with one another.
Features include:
- Learners can see each other’s content and progress.
- Access to the program feed and mentions.
- Support for collaborative tasks such as Team tasks and Peer review tasks.
This setup is recommended if you want to promote social learning and collaboration between participants.
Individual Programs
In an individual program, learners work independently and cannot see or interact with other learners.
Characteristics include:
- No access to other learners’ content or progress.
- No program feed or mentions.
- Team and peer review tasks are not available.
This setup is useful for self-paced learning, onboarding, or programs where interaction is not required.

How to enable program type

Go to Admin.

Open the program and enter Settings.

Under Program type, select either Cohort or Individual.

Click Save changes.
Switching between Cohort and Individual programs
You can only switch the program type if no learners have completed any activity in the program. If activity has already taken place, you’ll need to create a copy of the program with the new setting.
Please note! If you switch a program containing Team tasks or Peer review tasks to Individual, these tasks cannot be kept.
You’ll be asked to either:
- Remove the tasks manually in the Builder, or
- Confirm deletion when saving the change.
