Where Sessions Fit in the Program Structure
Promote's program structure has three levels:
- Level 1 - Module (Block, Event, Milestone)
- Level 2 - Assignment, Session
- Level 3 - Task
A Session is always connected to an Event. You must create an Event before adding Sessions. Sessions are used to display logistical and practical information like:
- Dates and times
- Meeting links or physical locations
- Resources and agendas
- Schedules and highlights for the day
This is what a session looks like to a program member:
Add to Calendar
Program members can add Sessions to their personal calendar by clicking Add to Calendar. This downloads an ICS file containing:
Event dates
Both start and end time
A link to the Promote session (to encourage program visits and context)
If a date hasn’t been set yet, the button will remain inactive.
Use Schedules
Use Schedules to break down key timings or topics for the day. You can create a headline (e.g. "Morning: Keynote & Group Work") and assign it to a time window. Here's how a schedule appears to learners:
How to add a Session
Go to your program and open the Builder tab.
Click + button in the relevant Event module.
Choose Session.
- Click the pencil icon to start editing your Session

Fill in the following:
Title – The name of the session (displayed in the program and overview)
Content – Add instructions, agenda, or details using the built-in editor

- Select Session Type - To list the session as a classic session (for example: F2F training), select 'Session'
Schedule – Add structured time slots and labels
Map – Include a location map

Click Save.
