Video is a great way to engage your learners. It’s easy to integrate video hosting services in Promote assignments, announcements and instructions.
Streaming media content like videos, can be seamlessly embedded in Promote via iframes, regardless of where it is being hosted which gives you endless possibilities in creating innovative assignments.
So - Yes – but NO!
Technically, you can upload a video as a resource in Promote. But we do NOT recommend this because of the following main reasons:
- It requires the user to download the video, which can be frustrating if he/she doesn’t have good bandwidth or there is lack of space on the local hard drive.
- It requires the user to have a local player – and you have no way to ensure this.
Our recommendation is to embed the video in Promote instead. Doing it in this way, the video must be online. The Promote team uses Vimeo and Wistia for this purpose. But you can also embed movies from YouTube, or other services you might use online.
