In this article, you can read when you can add events to your program, and how you can arrange the associated sessions so the content becomes clear to the learners.
When to Add an Event
The event in Promote is often used to represent an instructor-led training, either face2face in a classroom workshop or a virtual meeting like a webinar or a telephone conference. Basically, you use an Event when you need to have everyone doing something at the same time in the same place. When you create an Event in your program a session is automatically added to it.
Content in the session
In the session, you can add all the practical information that will be useful for the learners to have: dates and times, schedules, locations and addresses. You can also use the session as a place to upload useful material that is produced as part of the event, it might be a PowerPoint slide deck, pictures of a flip chart, anything that will be useful to have as future reference. Add an image of the venue and make the content clearer with a divider, bullet list and you can also use Schedules to highlight times or headlines of the day.
Arrange your sessions
To make the content of an event clear to the learners you can divide the information into several sessions instead of putting it all in one session. Here are two examples of when several sessions under an event could be a good idea:
- If the event consists of several days you can use one session per day. This can be useful if the venue differs or if you have different content for each day. By separating the event into several sessions you can give a detailed agenda for each day without making the content difficult to overview.
- If the learners will complete tasks in the program during the workshop you can use the session as an assignment. Leave the addresses/coordinates/schedules blank and add tasks to your session and it can be used in the same way as assignments. This can be used for highlighting surveys relating to your workshop, or if you have tasks during the workshop that the learners should report in the program.
