When you're creating a Survey in Promote, it's important to understand the difference between Main Questions and Question Parts. Main Questions are used to group together several Question Parts that are related to the same topic.
What's a 'Main Question'?
Main Questions act like headings, bringing together related Question Parts under one topic.
What's a 'Question Part'?
Surveys include the following Question Parts:
Single choice
The single-choice option allows a respondent to select one - and only one - answer. You can enter as many alternatives as you like, but the respondent can only pick one. Check out the examples:

Free text
The Free text option allows respondents to type out their full answers. This is handy when you want detailed answers or explanations to previous questions.

Short text
It's like the Free text option (see above) but for shorter answers. It gives less space to write.
Scale
This option lets respondents rate a statement on a scale. For instance, from "Strongly disagree" to "Strongly agree". You will also define the range of the scale, from between 1 and 1, when setting up this question part.
You can also customize the options on the scale itself. In other words, you are not limited to just numbers. However, be aware that whichever scale you choose, the actual report will always result in a number. In other words, you may choose a scale from A to D, however, selecting A will still result in a “1” in the actual report.

Multiple Choice
The Multiple choice option allows a respondent to choose multiple alternatives. You can enter as many alternatives as you like, and the respondent can check all that apply. See the example below.

Organize your Questionnaire with Main Questions
Sometimes, you might want to introduce a new topic or section in your quiz without asking a direct question. In that case, you can use a Main Question by itself, just to give some information or description.
Number of Questions in the Task
When you link your Survey to a task in Promote, remember: the survey's total question count is based on the Question Parts, not the Main Questions. Learn more about how to connect a survey to Promote here ->
