Introduction to AI Assistance for Summaries
Gathering insights from a lively task discussion can be as demanding as it is rewarding. Facilitators on Promote now have a powerful ally in AI Assistance to efficiently summarize key points from learner comments. This tool is especially useful when you aim to capture the essence of a discussion, providing a concise overview for your learners.
Utilize this feature to:
- Quickly synthesize main ideas from a busy thread of learner comments.
- Capture and reflect group consensus or diverse viewpoints effectively.
- Save time on drafting summaries, giving you more space to engage with learners.
The AI is capable of evaluating every learner's solution to determine how effectively they meet the assigned criteria. It then compiles a concise summary, which the facilitator can review, adjust, and finally share with all learners.
How AI Assistance Works for Summaries
AI Assistance for summaries is designed to enhance the learning experience by highlighting collective knowledge and insights, and it's available for Comment tasks and Team task conclusions.
The 'Facilitator Message' section within tasks is now equipped with an "AI summary" option:
- The AI reviews all learner comments and team conclusions linked to the task.
- The AI compares all comments/conclusions to the assignment and task description before suggesting a response
- It then extracts the important takeaways and formulates a coherent summary.
- As a facilitator, you have the full ability to review and tweak the AI-generated summary before posting it.
When generating a summary with AI, Facilitators can select one of three different summaries:
1) Summary
- Summary of comments in running text
- Feedback to the group in running text
- Around 5 sentences long
This option delivers a concise summary, highlighting key points from all learner comments and it will also include feedback directed to all learners as a group. The aim is to offer a quick, comprehensive overview limited to approximately 5 sentences.
2) Bulleted Summary
- Summary of comments in a bulleted list
- General feedback to the group in a bulleted list
- No length limit
The second option will generate the same type of response as option one, but this option breaks down the summary and feedback into two separate bulleted lists. This response does not have a length limit so the number of bullets will vary depending on how many comments are being summarized.
3) End with Question
- Summary of comments in running text
- Feedback to the group in running text
- End with a question for further discussion
- Split up into
- Summary
- Feedback
- Question
- Around 5 sentences long
Building on the standard summary format, this option adds an interactive element by concluding with a question aimed at encouraging further discussion. The structure of the response will be divided into the sections Summary, Feedback and Question.
